A young man who appeared inebriated drove his car right through the glass doors and into the Supermarket annexed to OiLibya Petrol Station on Waiyaki Way, Westlands Nairobi.
The disoriented youth kept driving even when inside the supermarket and was eventually stopped by the vehicle-ramming onto a row of shelves before coming to a standstill.
Onlookers said that he appeared to have fallen asleep momentarily while on the wheel of the car. The car a Toyota Axio registration number KBW 056K caused extensive damage and the security together with a handful of people gathered on the spot were going to descend on the culprit with a beating but the supermarket management intervened.
In a video circulated online, the youth is seen appealing to his mother to come to rescue him from the mess. It's possible he comes from a well-heeled background and was trying to beat the countrywide curfew deadline by drinking too much too fast.
