The loss of a close cousin prompted Nairobi's former governor Mike Sonko to post on social media to offer his sincere sympathies and sadness.
Wambua, a young woman, reportedly passed away a few days ago, according to Sonko.
She was laid to rest in a somber ceremony in Makueni yesterday with the help of Mbuvi and other family members.
"Our family's holiday season is depressing this year. We are mourning the loss of my incredibly close first cousin Joyce Mumbua Mutisya, whose mother was a sister to my late dad, as others celebrate with their family and loved ones.
I personally feel a great loss as we lay Joyce to rest today in Wote, Makueni county. She was a childhood friend of mine who I was very close to as we grew up together in Kwale, Wote, and Kangundo where we lived as siblings.
God bless you till we next meet and rest in peace, my cousin.
As the story develops, nothing is known about the circumstances surrounding her premature death.
