Police officers investigating the disappearance and death of Embakasi East Constituency Returning officer Daniel Mbolu Musyoka have retrieved a CCTV footage showing his last moments at Church road in Tassia area of Embakasi.
The DPP ordered the National police service to fasten investigations into the murder and forward the file for action within 7 days.
Mbolu was last seen on CCTV near an entertainment joint at Church road at 10:30 am which was exactly one hour after he excused himself from the tallying center to pick a call.
He was captured speaking to a boda boda rider near the entertainment joint. Moments later, he spoke on his mobile phone before making a turn and walking back towards the other end of Church road. He stood at the point for exactly one minute.
Detectives handling the case now hope to establish the identity of the boda boda operator seen on the footage so that he can give more information on what Musyoka was doing at the point which is exactly 1.2 kilometers from the tallying center.
The CCTV footage came hours after autopsy results showed that Musyoka could have died as a result of strangulation. He had bruises on his legs, arms and injuries on his shoulder caused by blunt force trauma. Samples were taken to the government chemist for further analysis.
