Panic and anxiety gripped the historic Likoni Ferry channel following an accident involving two vessels.
The two boats were completely full at the time of the event, and had it not been for the fast response of the rescue crews on the spot, a much worse situation may have ensued.
The MV Jambo was transporting passengers in the direction of the south coast, while the MV Likoni was heading in the opposite direction.
According to eyewitnesses on the scene, the two ships were too close together and collided instantly.
Passengers on board had to wait more than 45 minutes for a recovery team to arrive and resolve the issue. Neither the passenger nor the crew sustained any injuries as a result of the occurrence.
