Kirinyaga Street Workers Fights Over Clients Ahead of Mashujaa Day Celebration in The County

The residents of Ngurubani ward in Kirinyaga County witnessed unusual scene as street workers who travels to celebrate Mashujaa day holiday in the town, fights over available clients in the nightclubs.

While addressing the media, the residents claimed that there is an influx of commercial sex workers in the area, who compete for available clients in the nightclubs.

The residents now warns the County government of Kirinyaga that their presence might lead to a rise in sexually transmitted infections in the county.

Therefore, they have asked the county government to supply them with more condoms ahead of the Wednesday, October 20 Mashujaa day celebrations. 

“Because Kirinyaga will be hosting Mashujaa day celebrations, we request the Deputy Governor to distribute condoms for protection,” one of the Kirinyaga residents said.

The demand for more condoms by residents of Kirinyaga county came after the National celebrations Committee expressed satisfaction with the ongoing Mashujaa Day Celebrations preparation in Kirinyaga county. 

Confirming the reports, the chairperson in charge Dr. Karanja Kibicho said the preparations have surpassed 90 percent in all areas earmarked ahead of Wednesday Mashujaa day celebration in the County. 

Dr. Kibicho further said the preparations have now entered the final phase with Wang’uru stadium complete by 95 percent, beautification and infrastructural renovation in Kerugoya mini-state lodge complete by around 98 percent.
