According to reliable sources the deputy governor had engaged in fraudlent activity, he allegedly acquired vehicle tyres on credit from a renown indian businessman but refused to pay the money.
He was further pressurised to settle the debt but instead of paying in cash Mr. Rotich allegedly issued a bouncing cheque to the trader who reported the matter to the police officers who took action against him.
Mr. Rotich is being held at the DCI offices in Eldoret, in Uasin Gishu County where he was taken after his arrest. It has been a bad day as several politicians have been found on the wrong side of the law.
The Elgeyo Marakwet senator in connection with the arrest has said, "Elgeyo Marakwet Deputy Governor was today arrested by DCI and charged ostensibly because of bounced Cheque but in reality because of his stand on BBI and firm support for the hustler nation especially a recent well organized visit by the DP. His accuser is a desperate loser. We’re unbowed"
