A somber mood has engulfed a village in Sotik sub county,Bomet county after a man who killed his wife commit suicide.
The 38-year man hacked his wife using a machete and she died while being taken to the Kaplong mission hospital.
He then escaped from the scene and was later found to have hanged himself from a tree and his body was retrieved on Monday morning.
Area Chief Geoffrey Baretiet said the beginning of their domestic conflict still hasn’t been established, noting that the man had attempted to kill himself by taking poison on two separate occasions.
Mr. Baretiet said the couple had disagreed for a long time and efforts to get them to solve their issues didn’t bore no fruits.
The bodies of the deceased have since been moved to the Kapkatet mortuary for post mortem examination.
Cases of suicides and domestic violence are on the increase in Kenya due to hard economic times brought about by Covid-19 containment measures put in place by the government.
