During New Year's Eve festivities, a firecracker that got caught in the garments of a Brazilian mother of two killed her.
On Sunday, when neighbors gathered at the beach to watch the fireworks usher in the new year, the horrifying tragedy took place in the Nova Mirim area.
The moments leading up to the tourist's demise on a beach in Praia Grande, Sao Paulo, were captured in a 24-second footage that Hollywood Unlocked posted on Instagram.
People can be seen standing around and watching fireworks in the sky in the footage of the scene. Suddenly though, the camera pans around to see lightening strikes that are closer to the earth, followed by a deafening crash. While some people run away from the explosion, others—including the cameraperson—jump away from it. A body seems to be on the ground when the camera pans back.
The two children of Elisangela reportedly saw their mother die, according to the Daily Mail.
