Kidivo village area chief Aggrey Mudaki says the cave collapsed due to heavy rainfall.
The four miners are undergoing treatment at Vihiga town Hospital after they were pulled from the rubble by fellow miners.
“The three sustained serious injuries.They are currently receiving treatment at Vihiga town hospital," said Aggrey who was present at the scene.
According to the administrator, the walls of the mine collapsed in at around 6pm on Wednesday due to the heavy rainfall that have been pounding the region lately.
Preliminary investigations revealed that 32 people were working at the gold mine before it caved in.
The local chief said that the two fatalities were mass communication interns(journalists)who happened to work at the site searching for pocketing ahead of their opening in September.
Their bodies were transferred to Vihiga County hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
The matter is under police investigations.
