The Kenya Meteorological Department has developed an efficient telecommunications system for rapid collection and dissemination of meteorological information. The company has been mandated to provide accessible meteorological information to the general public in accordance with the World Meteorological Information WMO. The information has been vital to most sectors of the economy especially in the agricultural sector as it has enabled efficient utilization of natural resources for national development.
This Department has been sending early warnings on the changing weather patterns and this has helped in public awareness ensuring correct public understanding and interpretation of meteorological information. The information has been vital because the residents of a certain geographical location in the country can plan very well hence facilitating protection of property, saving lives and also in the conservation of the environment.
The Kenya Meteorological Department working closely with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry has provided an update of weather forecasting whose validity period ranges from 26th to 30th June 2021. According to the forecast, occasional light to moderate rainfall is expected over various parts of the country in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, Central and South Rift Valley and the Highlands East of the Rift Valley.

1.The Lake Victoria Basin, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Central and South Rift Valley; [Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Bungoma and Busia Counties],
Morning rains accompanied by sunny intervals are expected in the above areas. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are also expected over a few places and the nights are to be partly cloudy with some showers over a few places during the forecast period.
2.The Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi County;[ Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Muranga, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi Counties],
The residents in the above areas should be prepared for cool and cloudy conditions throughout the forecast period. The mornings are likely to experience cloudy conditions breaking into sunny intervals with light rains mostly in the high ground areas. The nights are to experience showers over a few places with maximum temperatures of 24C and minimum temperatures of 7C.
3.South Eastern Lowlands and the Coastal Strip; [Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties],
The mornings are set to have showers of light rains with sunny intervals are expected over a few areas during the forecast period. The nights are likely to have cloudy conditions with showers over a few places.
