Slain Embu Brothers to be laid to rest on Friday, New Officers Take Over

The two brothers who were killed by police will be laid to rest on Friday at their home in Kithangari, Embu County.Workers at the home were busy erecting tents where mourners will sit. Minor repairs, including repainting the gates and sprucing up other areas of the compound.

Protests erupted in Kianjokoma following the deaths of Benson Njiru, 22, and Emmanuel Mutura, 19.

The ensuing chaos compelled the deputy inspector general of police, Edward Mbugua, to pay a visit to the area.

Mbugua directed that Embu North Sub-county Police Commander Emily Ngaruiya and the OCS Manyatta Police Station be redeployed to the Eastern Regional Police headquarters while investigations are conducted.

Senior Superintendent of Police Abdullahi Adan Alio took over as the new Embu North Sub-County Police commander on Sunday morning. Adan worked as the Eastern Regional Police headquarters' staffing and operations officer in Embu.

Acting Embu County Police Commander Kimani Mitugo confirmed the deployment of a new OCS to the Manyatta police station. “On Monday, the new officers will be introduced.”
