A retired GSU officer reported to have defiled a school girl has been charged in court.
The 68-year-old man is said to have sexually assaulted the minor in a lodging at Kaptagat area of Kerio Valley within Elgeyo Marakwet County.
Members of the public demanded to know the relationship between the man and the minor who was in the room, prompting the schoolgirl to confess the act. The girl narrated that the former officer has been dating her for a while.
The police thereafter arrested the suspect, William Sang, and locked him at the local police station. The minor were also taken to the hospital for medical checkups.
Sang was then charged with defilement and an alternative charge of an indecent act with a minor. However, he pleaded not guilty, saying he did not defile the minor as alleged.

According to statistics, incest is on the rise in the country and thrives under a culture of silence, stigma, and fear.
