The drama involving the three Kamiti Terrorists who had escaped from the facility before they were arrested by police reservists in Mwingi. The three were en route to Somalia before their journey was cut short.
After drilling through the cell wall, the three are said to have taken advantage of drunk prison guards before scaling over the two prison walls into the staff quarters.
After reaching the staff quarters, they crept through the houses and exited through the staff gate which was unmanned. They trekked a few meters before reaching the road where they found a waiting Probox car. The car transported them to Machakos town. They reached Machakos town at exactly 3 Am, they waited for two hours for another vehicle to pick them up. However, the second vehicle failed to turn up forcing the three to use public transport to kitui.
Police have finally managed to get the two phones they were using. They are also searching for a Probox that carried them to Machakos and another vehicle that was supposed to pick them at Machakos town and take them to Somalia.
