Confusion as a Female Prison Escapes From Kayole Police Station in Unclear Circumstances

Police in Kayole, Nairobi, has initiated a manhunt for a remandee who fled while at Kayole Police station. This is after she was hauled in from Makadara Law Court on Monday, November 14, 2022.

Veronica Mutheu, 32, a resident of Villa Embakasi, had been detained by the OCS for theft and was transported there on the same day.

On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, the matter was set for mention in response to a variety of applications.

Philip Kipsang and Alex Ndong, two police officers, were with Mutheu in the car that had been used to transport her to and from the court. The two cops were joined by three other coworkers and a fourth officer from Hurlingham police station when they returned to Kayole Police Station.

The two officers, who were riding in the car with the prisoner, Constable Wachira Daniel, and Philip Kipsang, got out at the Kayole Police station.

Wachira claims that the prisoner slipped away unnoticed close to the police station gate.

Since then, a file on prisoner escapes has been opened, and all officers have been asked to be on high alert. The public has also been asked to report any sightings of her.
