The police officers have reportedly disrupted the burial service of Mahoo Ward MCA Ronald Sagurani dismantling tents and chasing away mourners. Deputy president William Ruto was expected to attend the burial.
Ronald Sagurani lost his life on Tuesday, August 17 while receiving treatment at Pandya Hospital in Mombasa.
His death was conveyed to the public by County Assembly speaker Meshack Maganga. It was reported that Sagurani succumbed to Covid-19.
Mr. Ronald Sagurani was the fourth member of County Assembly in Taita Taveta county who has lost his life while in office in the last two years.
The lawmaker was elected to lead Mahoo Ward in the County Assembly on a Jubilee Party ticket. Sagurani was in his second term in office.
President Uhuru Kenyatta led Kenyans in mourning the death of MCA Sagurani. In his message of comfort, the president said Sagurani was a progressive leader and blames the cruel hand of death that has claimed his life at a time when his constituency still needs his transformative leadership skills.
The MCA will be burried today as top government leaders are expected to attend his burial.
