Fake News, Aisha Jumwa's Daughter Is Not Dead Check Out More

Why are Kenyans so quick on fake news? On Saturday, web-based media was inundated with reports that the little girl of Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa had passed on. This news spread like wildfire and nearly everybody believed the news was true.

Reports guaranteed the MP's young girl, who claimed to be a student at Kalimoni Senior School, hanged herself.

Photographs of the young girl quickly surfaced online and all kinds of condolences were sent to the MP's family.

A certain report read, "Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa's 16-year-old little girl Melisha Jumwa has ended it all at Kalimoni Senior School. As per reports, she was discovered hanging dead in the school's dining corridor today around 4:45 am."

In any case, I can confirm that the reports are fake and that the image shared via web-based media isn't that of the MP's little girl. The implied picture is of a 15-year-old last year student of Miracle Junior High School at Sunyani in the Bono Region, in Ghana. In addition to that, the said School is a kid's school, not a secondary school as implied in the fake news.

What's your take on this fake news?
