Mombasa Road traffic Police officer Elias Kariuki said three people died on the spot during the 12 p.m accident that occurred near signature mall.
He said the accident involved a truck and a private saloon car.
Police reports revealed that the saloon car which had six occupants onboard was travelling to Nairobi town from Mombasa when the incident happened.
"The saloon car had six occupants onboard.The six were heading to Nairobi town from Mombasa when the accident happened. Three people from the saloon car died on the spot and two other occupants from the truck succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital," Elias said.
Eye witnesses accounts revealed that the accident occurred after the car’s driver lost its control and veered off the road, he was over speeding.
The bodies of the were transferred to Nairobi City mortuary pending postmortem.
Three passengers who escaped with severe injuries were rushed to Nairobi County Referral hospital for emergency treatment.
