Healthcare services at Machakos Level 5 Hospital in Machakos Town have today went interrupted as medics down their tools to protest over lack of salary pay and poor terms of service.
According to a reliable source, the Machakos health workers have today abundoned their work and gone on strike leaving patients in total suffering. According to the Ukambani Kenya Medical Practitioner's, Pharmacist and Dentists Union (KMPPDU) Chairman Dr. Charles Okumu, the medics will remain away from the health facilities until their cries are listened and heard. Additionally, Okumu has warned of the countywide protest by all the Machakos Hospitals workers if nothing will be done to give solutions to their problems.
Unfortunate, the demonstration comes just a time when politicians' are busy campaigning and looking for votes instead of first finding solutions to the problems affecting their counties. This is not the first time the demonstration has been held in Machakos as another one involving the workers of same Machakos Level 5 Hospital and Kangundo level 4 Hospital downed their tools few weeks ago and protested against poor working conditions and lack of protective equipments.
Machakos County is led by Outgoing Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua of Maendeleo Chap Chap Party.
