Four teachers among six men arrested on suspicion of being part of a livestock theft syndicate in Machakos County.
Athi River Sub County police commander Anderson Njagi confirmed that five of the culprits had been detained at Athi River police station and another one was held at Kiserian police station.
The police chief revealed that the suspects held at Athi River police station were Pauline Muthoni, David Macharia, Peter Njenga, Ngenoi Hilalu and Samwel Mwangi.
“Within the last 18 months one, we have had registered various instances of livestock theft in Machakos County and its environment, Kajiado, Nairobi, and Kiambu counties,” Njagi said.
Njagi told the press on Tuesday at his office together with Athi River Sub-county Criminal Investigations Officer John Kanda that investigations are ongoing.
The police commander revealed that they were able to nab the suspects after intensive investigations in conjuction with Athi River DCI sleuths plus their colleagues from the Forensic Investigations Department.
Njagi called upon the public residents to file any suspicious information that will assist police fight off such criminals.
