Profound Kericho MCA Warns James Finlay Firm Against Mounting Roadblocks on Public Roads

Kapsoit Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Hon. Paul Chirchir alias'Tarimbo' has asked James Finlay Kenya Tea Company to desist from mounting roadblocks on public roads in Kericho County. This follows a series of complaints from the public on the prevailing situation.

Through his Facebook page, the incumbent Kapsoit MCA wrote, "James Finlay Kenya has got no powers to mount any roadblocks on public roads. They equally have no right whatsoever to carry out any search on public or private vehicles using public roads. Whatever they have been doing is illegal and must stop".

Notably, James Finlay Kenya Tea Firm have two unwarranted roadblocks erected near Brooke area between Chepseon Trading Center and Kericho Town along the busy Nakuru-Kericho Highway.

This comes a few weeks after James Finlay Kenya imported tea plucking machines to replace human labour, a situation that has since rendered several persons jobless. Similarly, Kapsoit MCA thwarted the move, terming the introduction of these machines as "pre-colonialism".
