The house that collapsed is directly opposite Ruiru police station.The house has collapsed only four days after another collapsed in Ruaka.Yesterday the governor of Kiambu County,Kimani Wamatanga,toured the area and announced to the people staying there to evacuate the premises.There were around two hundred people living in that building,and immediately they left the house collapsed at around 4 am today morning.
The building is said to have been one storey building initially and was meant for business purposes.Later the owner decided to add other buildings on top hence making it a five storey building.Personal properties of individuals have been destroyed apart from the ones which were removed.No one has been injured.The governor Kimani Wamatanga disbanded the technical commitee in charge of approving building applications and inspecting building construction warning of dire consequences.Buildings which are not compliant will be subjected to test and will be brought down.Really,a stitch in time saved nine.
