The family of slain serial killer Masten Wanjala disowned him when he was alive and has again denied him at death. The family refused to attend the postmortem that was carried out on Wednesday, October 20 at Bungoma County Referral Hospital mortuary.
Speaking to a local media on condition 9f anonymity, a family member further stated that their son's escape at Jogoo Road Police Station raised more questions. They wondered how Wanjala could have bypassed the heavy security that had earlier escorted him during the arrest.
“We suspect the killing was extra-judicial considering that the last time he was here is about two months ago under heavy police escort, casting doubt on how he managed to escape,” the source said.
The family is contemplating suing the state over Wanjala's death and they strongly feel the government was heavily involved. They further faulted the police for slowing down the investigation into the killings done by Wanjala.
