Christmas Eve turned tragic for a family in Nyamira after two cousins identified as Clinton Maosa Obwocha, 25, and Daisy Barongo Binyanya, 24 died in a tragic road accident along on their way to their rural homes for Christmas festivities.
Daisy was a fresh architectural engineering graduate from technical University of Nairobi. On the fateful day, she called her parents informing them that she would be home later in the day.
Her dad asked her whether she had enough money for lunch and later sent her 1,000 Kenyan shillings. She also confirmed that her cousin Juma would give her a lift in his car from Nairobi.
Daisy's dad asked her mother to prepare a meal for her.
172 kilometres into the journey, the driver of their vehicle lost control along the Narok-Bomet road before it rolled severally.
The distraught dad said it was sad that their hardworking daughter who was home during the previous week looking happy in a graduation gown would now return home in a coffin. Daisy was just about to celebrate the fruits of her labour. She scored 382 marks in Kisii and secured an admission to Kipsigis Girls' High School where she got a B+ in KCSE.
The family members of Clinton who were also eagerly waiting for him were informed about the sad news by his brother Kevin Omote.
