Confirming the incident Mutomo subcounty police commander Peter Nthiga said that the grandmother to the defiled girl was the one who reported the case to the police.
The police rushed to the scene only to find the man had escaped but he was later arrested while trying to board a bus to flee from the area.
"It was reported by the grandmother of the 4-year old girl that she had found her granddaughter had been defiled but the culprit escaped that is why she rushed to report to the police," he said.
"Police rushed to the scene and found the suspect had fled but with help from the public he was caught while trying to board a bus to flee from the area. He was taken to mutomo police station," he added.
The girl was taken to hospital for check up while the man has been arrested awaiting to be taken to court on Monday.
