Fran Greg-Quangrong claims to have killed Ummukulsum Sani after spending 16.4 million.
"She told me she had found a new boyfriend and later sent a picture of herself and her new boyfriend to my WhatsApp, which was shocking," Fran Greg-Quangrong told the Kano High Court on January 11
Greg-Quangrong is a businessman who imports clothes from abroad. Their relationship started in June 2020, when Ummukulsum Sani got his phone number from her friend and called him to tell him that she liked him.
"She started asking for money. I gave her everything he wanted because I loved her. I sent her Ksh 16.4 million to her bank account. Eighteen million to start a business, four million for a house and six million for her university education, among others. Every time I go to their place to pick him up, Dina, her mother, always welcomes him with joy," the Chinese citizen told the court.
In February 2020, the businessman was shocked to discover that the woman had turned to another man. In September 2022, his colleague asked for more money for the house she was building in Abuja, but this time the suspect refused. By telling her that he had no money, she got angry and stopped answering his calls. If convicted, Fran Greg-Quangrong faces up to life in prison.
