What Maina Gikonyo And His Girlfriend Were Doing In Ruiru Before Driving To Juja Dam

Detectives were today evening still piecing together information to establish the identities of the two lovebirds whose naked bodies were recovered from the dam.

According to eyewitnesses, Maina and an unidentified woman were in a car parked near the dam and at around 9:30 pm, they heard screams for help as the vehicle plunged into the dam.

Police have since revealed that between 1pm and 5pm, Gikonyo and the woman were drinking at an entertainment joint in Ruiru before driving to Titanic Dam in Murera Ward at around 5pm.

The Juja Dam is a popular spot among locals and revellers who enjoy outdoor activities.

The area is known for being littered with bottles of alcohol, indicating that people often party there.

Witnesses who spoke to journalists recounted how they saw the vehicle the two had been sitting in for a while, slowly descend towards the banks of the dam before submerging into the dam.

They said the two had managed to get out of the car but drowned while attempting to swim to safety.

Speaking after the tragic incident, the deceased's wife acknowledged that her husband had many friends, suggesting that the lady with whom died might be one of them.

By not making a fuss about the fact that her husband might have been cheating on her, Kiiru fell in favour of a section of Kenyans.

They praised her composure and calmness in the face of the tragedy that robbed her off her husband.

Bodies of the two victims were retrieved from the dam on Wednesday.
