Right after the expose that went viral recently, Journalist Purity Mwambia exposing police officers who have been leasing weapons to criminals,Speaker Justin Muturi gave a hand of applause to the female Journalist for her courageous action and expressed concern for her safety.

The expose was tittled ‘Silaha Mitaani’ which revealed how police officers made deals with criminals by leasing weapons to them. According to the report, Pistol would go for Ksh. 5000, AK47 at Ksh. 10, 000 and bullet proof vests too.
Muturi spoke during World Press Freedom Day on Monday 3rd of May, In Serena Hotel, Nairobi, where he challenged journalists to take their roles seriously.

He expressed concern about the livelihoods of journalists in the country and urged media owners to pay them well.
DCI boss George Kinoti calmed the situation down by saying that journalists should collaborate with authorities in such exposes and warned them not to risk their lives. He advised them to reach out to authorities whenever they come across information concerning country’s security.
