Three people have died on the spot while one was left with serious injuries after a grisly road accident involving two vehicles and a tuk tuk on Kombani - Kwale road this morning.
Kwale County Commissioner Joseph Kanyiri said the accident happened after the driver of a truck ferrying a load of cooking gas cylinders tried to overtake a tuk-tuk that was heading in the same direction as the truck, before hitting another truck that was heading in the opposite direction.
Kanyiri said the driver of the truck was being detained by police officers as investigations continue to determine the cause of the accident
He has since urged drivers to be careful as the road is slippery due to the heavy rains.
The bodies of the three were removed from the accident scene and taken to a mortuary at a hospital in Kwale, while the injured person is being given emergency treatment at the same hospital.
