The cases of corruption has been the main challenge for jubilee government. Many project have stalled due to corruption and misappropriation of funds. Money laundering is another issue that has been linked to influential politicians in the country.
The Mathira member of parliament Rigathi Gachagua is being pursued by Directorate of criminal investigation over claims of money laundering and land grabbing. Yesterday he was once again accused of grabbing a piece of land belonging to the former civil servants.
Gachagua has now moved to court to stop Directorate of Criminal Investigation from arresting him over allegations of fraud. Gachagua is also seeking for anticipatory bail should DCI and Director of Public Prosecution go ahead to press charges against him.
He further claims that he is being prosecuted for his political association with Dp Ruto. He added that he genuinely obtained his money and nothing suggest he engaged in corruption.
“I have a genuine fear that I will soon be arrested and charged with offences I do not know. My impending false arrest is based on my political standing. It will be malicious and devoid of merit to arrest me without any evidence linking me to any crime,” swore Gachagua.
