A sombre mood has been witnessed in Migori County after a 15-year old form two student died after he was allegedly punished by his mother on Sunday night 1st January 2023.
Confirming the incident is the Migori County Police Commander, Mark Wanjala who said that the body of the deceased was severely bruised when they arrived at the scene.
The mother of the deceased admitted to beating up her child but didn't expect that he would die. She said that she woke up on 2nd January ready to go to work but realised that her son laid in the bed unresponsive. It is then that she realised that he had died.

The mother added that her eldest son, who has since gone missing, was also present during the incident and took part in the beating.
It is not yet clear what caused the death but the police have launched investigations into the incident. The mother has since been arrested and will be arraigned in court once investigation is complete.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Migori Level five hospital awaiting postmortem while the woman was detained at Oruba Police Station.
