The family of Maureen Moraa Kiriago picked her body from Migori County Referral Mortuary on February 22, 2022, ready for burial tomorrow. The 27-year-old was shot 16 times by her cop husband before turning the gun on himself.
Speaking to a local daily, the family of the deceased woman said they decided to take the body after the husband failed to pay a dowry for their daughter. They also insisted on having her 2-year-old child.

“We don't understand what happened but all in all we have to accept that my daughter is no more. We have nothing against them. What has happened has happened. But we want the child to stay with us,” her father, Kennedy Kiriago, stated.
He further stated that the two had no domestic wrangles before the murder-suicide that happened. Any disagreement between them was amicably solved and never had it gone to a dangerous level.
The family of her husband, Antony Mwangi, declined to speak about the development. Surprisingly, the postmortem had not been carried on his body.
