Tension Is High As Demolitions Of Structures Continue In Deep Sea Slums

The demolition of illegal structures built along the highways in the area has been going on for a few days now, and it's causing a lot of discomfort in the neighborhood . The locals couldn't do anything but watch helplessly as the caterpillars demolished their structures.

Illegal constructions have been removed to make room for a bypass that would run through the neighborhood, easing traffic congestion around Nairobi's Central Business District.

Residents had been compensated, but they refused to leave the region, according to the Cabinet Secretary for Interior Security, Dr. Fred Matiang'i.

Anti-riot police were dispatched this morning to ensure that tensions in the region do not rise further, as residents are quite concerned about the demolitions.

Despite the protests of residents of the Deep Sea slums in Parklands, Nairobi, development of the motorway that goes through this neighborhood will continue.

What are your thoughts on the government's stance on this issue, and what is next for the Deep Sea slum residents?
