Pain and Grief has rocked a family in Baringo County following the death of a 10-year-old girl who was defiled by her relative. The girl identified as Mitchelle succumbed from complications that came as a result of the heinous act; she had been in and out of hospital since May, due to the extensive damage to her body.
According to reports by then, Mitchell had been defiled for three years continuously by his uncle. Mitchell was left under the custody of his uncle after her mother passed away.
His uncle's heinous activities were discovered after Mitchell ran away from home for five days. After returning back to school, the teachers noticed unusual behavior and restlessness by Mitchel prompting them to question on what was the problem.
Mitchell opened up that his uncle had been defiling her on several occasions and threatened by her not to tell anyone or he could punish her.
Teachers from her school took Mitchell for medical examination where the doctors affirmed that she had been defiled. According to her doctor, she had extensive damages on her lower organs and only her heart and intestines were functional.
Mr. Titus Barmasai, the manager of Sunshine Children's home where Mitchell had been taken for refuge expressed disappointment and anger on losing such a young innocent soul to a heinous crime committed by someone close to her.
The resident and family are blaming the police of laxity considering that the perpetrator is yet to be arrested 3 months later after they reported the heinous crime to them.
Baringo county is currently on the spot over increased cases of defilement as the residents blame the government of giving them a blind eye making most of them to result into 'Kangaroo' courts to settle the matter.
