The woman identified as Gladys Chelule met their death while trying to cross a flooded stream on their way home after attending a birthday celebration in the neighborhood.
According to Kiplabotwo chief Stanley Towett, the mother might have underestimated the strength of the water waves because they had used the same route while crossing in the morning.
The lady together with her daughter were overwhelmed with strong waves of the ragging flooded stream and swept away to a distance of 60 metres from the scene where the two bodies were found trapped in the branches of the nearby trees.
The bodies of the two have been moved to Longisa county Mortuary where there awaits a postmortem to be done. The area chief has warned the residents to be careful while crossing the flooded rivers to be sure of their safety. He also added that it's better to wait for the rivers to calm down instead of underestimating and risking their lives.
