Two class eight Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidates have drowned in Theta Dam in Kiambu County.
It has been reported that pupils drowned in the dam during a school trip.
According to Citizen Digital, the pupils are from Comejuu Premier Academy Primary School in Komothai, Githunguri, and had on Friday finished their rehearsals ahead of their KCPE exams. They then went on a trip together with other students before the unfortunate incident happened.
The school head Mr David Paul Kang'ethe revealed that a total of 60 pupils both from class eight and class six went for an excursion to Kinare forest before the two drowned.
The deceased pupils were to sit their exams starting next week.
Police officers from the Kiganjo police station are on the site trying to retrieve the bodies of the two pupils
"The operation kicked off after the boys slipped into Theta Dam at around 4:30 pm on Friday," police said.
