In Kenya, long-distance travel is mostly left to bus companies. This is because they are biund to provide efficient services compared to Saccos or small-time investors.
In Kenya, Modern Coast bus company has been very popular for its excellent services. However, after the Nithi bus accident, the company has rather been on a low down as it recently resumed its services in the country after a ban.
After some days of going unnoticed, the bus company seems to have another scandal where they have refused to refund a customer or rather issue a travel voucher to the customer.
According to the information that was shared by a reliable source, a customer booked 6 tickets worth Ksh 12,000 in July from Mombasa To Mumias at Ksh 2,000 per seat. Due to the unfortunate accident involving a Modern Coast bus in Nithi, the company was suspended and the customer was not able to travel.
After the incident, the customer tried to get a refund but it was not successful as the company was not operating due to the suspension. A few days after the company resumed its operations, the customer tried to get a refund only to be told that the company dirs not give refunds. Instead, the customer opted to ask for new tickets since the company could not give a refund. However, the company has still refused to say that they can not authorise new tickets.
Even though this is just a single incident, there are many Kenyans who have not received refunds from the company after they were suspended.
