A driving school has been launched at a public institution in Kisumu County, with an aim of ensuring safe and responsible driving in the region.
The Ramogi Institute of Science and Technology (RIAT) along the busy Kisumu-Kakamega Highway is now home to the new driving school.
Speaking during the official launch on Monday, Principal Secretary, State Department for Vocational Training Dr. Margaret Mwakima said that the driving school was established by the institution’s leadership.
“This was necessitated by a demand for safe and responsible driving and also to address the increasing demand for driver’s training,” she said.
She said the school will attract more students and enhance skill acquisition for continuing students since they will be able to get a driver’s license alongside other chosen trades.
She urged the management to consider introducing a refresher driving course.
“Refresher driving will help one to become a better, safer and more confident driver. Relearning safe driving principles would surely reduce the risk to yourself, your passengers and automatically to other road users,” she added.
