An Infant baby boy was rescued at Kathiti Village in Mutira Ward Kirinyanga from an 80 feet- deep pit Latrine where a mother is suspected of dumping the infant before fleeing.
While confirming the incident, Kirinyanga County Fire Department Director John Kiama, Narrated that he was informed of the incident around 9 am Thursdays, July 8 and that his team rushed to the scene to save the innocent soul.
The mother of the baby is yet to be known. It's very unfortunate as some families are tearing apart because of a baby boys while others are throwing them in the toilets. It was reported by kenyans.co.ke that after the baby was dumped into the pit, the suspect threw pieces of cut banana trunk into the same pit intending to kill him.
The baby was heard crying by a worker who went to the toilet to ease himself, without without wasting time,he informed the owner of the farm known as Njue. After it was confirmed that there was a baby in the pit, everyone was made cognisant about the incident. People broke the concrete floor which was covering the pit before they Commenced on the rescue process. The little infant was Rescued but is currently nursing at Kerugoya Level 4 hospital.
While confirming the incident, Kirinyanga Central Sub county Police Commander Mwarigha said a proper investigation to find the heartless suspect has been launched, and once arrested she will face the full force.
