Church Gifts 200 Widows With Foodstuffs In Bungoma County

Two Hundred Widows and Single Mothers are the recent beneficiaries of foodstuffs courtesy of a Church.

It was a moment of joy for a section of Widows and single mothers in Bumula constituency, Bungoma County as they received food stuff gifts from World Hope Missions Kenya.

The Church Cum NGO gave them foodstuffs at Namisi village in Mayanja Kibuke, West Bukusu ward.

Speaking during the event, the World Hope Missions Kenya director John Walumbe Oltukai said that he was fighting to bridge the gap between the rich and poor people in the community.

"World Hope Missions Kenya has been feeding these people for the last 11 years, God has been greatiful that we haven't lacked," he said.

Oltukai stated that woman are the community's pillar hence they strife to make ends meet through the provision of the food stuffs to the family.

"They are the hardworking people who feed the society and if they suffer the community suffers," he said.

Oltukai noted that they have been empowering widows and single mothers through the feeding programs that has since enhanced their working relationship.

“We have also paid school fees for over 100 bright childre but from poor backgrounds, we also run the sports tournament in West Bukusu and Siboti ward, these has helped reduce idleness among youths," said the director.

He continued, "We have also build houses for the widows and soon we will be constructing a home for orphans in Bumula Sub County,” he said.

Oltukai said that apart from preaching the word of God they also touch the community by through the feeding program and sports evangelism to reach out to many youths.

Pastor Abraham Wakasala of World Hope Missions Kenya said that the program has helped reduce stress amongst widows and single mothers as they are given something small to eat with their family members.

"Apart from the feeding program, we also preach the word of God to them so that they can change and follow God's doctrine," he said.

During the event, the beneficiaries were given maize, wheat flour, rice, bar soap, sugar and the cooking oil among other items.

One of the beneficiaries Metrine Nasimiyu lauded the Church for helping them during this hard economic times.

“We are happy that we have been given food to feed with our families, may the almighty God give favour our director to continue empowering us through such feeding programs,” she said.
