Heavy Rains to be Experienced for the Next Seven Days in the Following Counties, Met Dept Warns

The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned of changes in weather patterns over most parts of the country in the next seven days. The cloudy conditions witnessed over most parts of the country, is a clear signs that rains are around the corner in the coming days.

The cold and cloudy conditions in most parts of Kenya have made the meteorological department to issue weather forecasting advisory updates in the next couple of days in certain areas.

KMD has provided a seven day weather forecasting update whose validity ranges from 29th November to 5th December 2022.

According to the forecast, rainfall is expected to continue over most parts of the country. The forecast indicates that isolated storms are likely to occur over some parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central and South Rift Valley, the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and the South Eastern Lowlands.

Morning rains in conjunction with afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected in most parts over the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Central and Southern Rift Valley; (Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, West Pokot, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Busia, Migori, Baringo, Nakuru and Narok counties.

There is a high chance of evening and night showers over most parts as the nights are expected to be cloudy.

Intermittent cloudiness with light morning rains giving way to sunny intervals are expected over the Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi County: Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Muranga, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi counties. Afternoon showers are likely to occur over a few places as night showers are expected over several places.

Morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers are expected over most parts of the South Eastern Lowlands and the Coastal Strip; Machakos, Kirui, Makueni, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties.

The expected heavy rains over most parts of the country are likely to have an effect on the disruption of transportation and businesses activities.
