Governor Sakaja Issues A Stern Warning To Bars And Restaurants In Nairobi

Nairobi County Governor, Johnson Sakaja, issued a stern warning to clubs and restaurants on Friday.

According to the report, Nairobi residents have been complaining about noise emanating from bars, restaurants, nightclubs, and liquor-selling premises.

Following these public claims, the county government of Nairobi has issued a warning on noise pollution and given directives to be followed. The government cancelled all the licenses issued to nightclubs near residential areas and banned those without from acquiring one. However, nightclubs within the CBD and other specified streets in nonresidential areas will be issued a license.

Bars and restaurants have been told to control their noise and operate within the specified time. Specifically, the playing of music must stop by 10 p.m.

In addition, all liquor premises in Nairobi should provide enough parking for their clients. Vehicles causing a disturbance on roads and footpaths will be seized.
