Kenyans on Twitter have censured the action of the Police after disrupting a family event at Athi River on Sunday morning.
According to organizers, the racing event was supposed to start at 10:00 am as scheduled after a court order was obtained. However, the police ignored the court order and proceeded to lob teargas canisters oblivious of the presence of children among the gathering.
Currently, all public gatherings, including political meetings, remain suspended, while attendance at weddings and funerals is still limited to 100 people.
Kenyans have now taken to Twitter to condemn the actions of the Police and question the authority of Interior CS Fred Matiang'i who have allowed politicians and the elite to conduct rallies while thwarting the ordinary Kenyans.
The event has since been postponed. Here are a few reactions from angry Kenyans. There is still no word from the event organizers at the time of publishing.
