In an incident at a bank in Nairobi West, two security personnel and a client were stabbed and suffered significant injuries.

Police who were manning the Equity Bank, Nairobi West Branch shot and critically injured the assailant who attacked the bank guards and the client.

When he was shot inside the bank, chaos ensued. According to authorities, the middle-aged male was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Since the individual was alone himself when the incident occurred, the reason for the attack is still unknown.

But Langata police chief Monica Kimani claimed that early evidence indicates that he sought funds from the bank as he claimed that he needed cash from the bank.

According to the police, they believe he was going after some cash that was being transported by G4S employees to the bank on Ghandi Avenue.

According to Kimani, they were looking at the bank's CCTV video to see if he was operating alone or with colleagues. The guard attempted to stop him as he proceeded directly to the managers' and operations office.

He then attacked another person before striking a client, reaching for a knife and stabbing him in the leg.

According to the police chief, the attacker entered the manager's office and threatened her while requesting money.

Police shot him inside the bank. The assault follows an increase in the number of undercover investigators deployed in the city as authorities work to dismantle criminal organizations that reorganize following the general election.

As gangs strike for goods and money, violent crimes have increased in several areas of the city. For their own safety, police encourage victims to assist the perpetrators.
