Four-storey building collapses at Mwiki in Kasarani, Nairobi. Several people feared trapped inside; Kenya Red Cross say rescue efforts underway.
Nairobi County police commander confirmed the incident saying rescue operations are ongoing.
Other construction workers who were working at the site managed to escape death by a whisker after a loud noise emanated from one side of the building before it collapsed.
In the pictures seen by the press, the building collapsed few minutes to 9pm on August 10, 2022.
Locals said they panicked when they heard earth-tremor-like sound.
"I was coming from the market and my child told me that Mr Kinyua's building had collapsed. I toured the scene and got wind that several people were still trapped," a local said.
According to the local staying next to the four-storey building, the building was weakened by too much rain in the area.
Kenya Red Cross officials, National Youth Service servicemen and servicemen and Kenya police are now helping in rescue operations.
Meanwhile, police have launched investigations into the incident.
