Role IEBC Commissioner, Cherera Had In Governor Joho's Government [Photos]

As Chief Officer in the Office of the Governor, Ms. Cherera was among the leaders who together with partners and well-wishers, steered and coordinated the Governor's food distribution program under the umbrella ‘Together For Mombasa’. This initiative cushioned residents with food and relief items from the onset of covid 19 and carried on regularly as the Country remained under lockdown and affected residents were unable to report to their work or conduct businesses.

Ms. Cherera specifically headed Kisauni Sub County, the largest Sub County in Mombasa in this program.

Other than that, the CO also runs a mentorship and education sponsorship program for young women and girls that have been instrumental in shaping their education and socio-economic lives. This, she carries out during the school holidays at the local halls in the County.

The CO together with partners has successfully planned and coordinated the Annual Governor's Christmas tree program - an initiative that brings different faiths together in caring for vulnerable residents during the Christmas season.

Through this project, dozens of Mombasa residents, mostly women, and children who are less fortunate, widows and orphans, have been beneficiaries of food and other basic items that support their welfare and livelihood. Christmas celebrations and gift items are also given to beneficiaries.

She further takes part in the promotion of talent development as stated in the Governor’s Manifesto besides offering young girls from various universities and colleges internship opportunities at the Governor's Office.
