Three people were on Saturday morning killed while seven others sustained injuries after a trailer and matatu collided head-on at Ngata Bridge, Nakuru.
Confirming the incident, Nakuru West OCPD Edward Ogware told Citizen Digital that the trailer, which was en route to Nakuru, veered off its lane before ramming the 14-seater matatu that was heading to Eldoret.
The incident occurred at around 6:30am with eye witnesses reporting that the trailer's driver fled the scene immediately afterward.
The students from the Rift Valley Institute of Agriculture and Technology were passengers in a Matatu that was traveling from Nakuru city to Rongai Constituency.
One of the survivors has however been admitted to the hospital with a fractured arm.
