Residents of Mutithi Village in Mwea West sub-county have been left in shock and disbelief after a man was found on Monday night keeping the body of Tabitha Wakathare, his mother in his house months after she passed away.
James Muchira, the culprit and his wife were arrested by the police after Evans Mwaniki, Muchira's brother, informed the area assistant chief of what was happening.
Confirming the incident is the Mwea West Sub-County Police Commander, Wilson Koskei who said that the culprit had turned his residential home into a church family which he called "God's mountain of Believers" and he rarely allowed anyone inside raising eyebrows among neighbours.
When the officers raided Muchira's home, they were shocked to find the body of Tabitha decomposing. Preliminary reports say that Muchira and his wife were conducting prayers on the body with the believe that their mother would resurrect on Monday night when they were arrested.
The police managed to arrest Muchira, his wife and another woman and were taken to the Kiamaciri police station awaiting to be arraigned in court. The body of the deceased was taken to the Kerugoya Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
