Police in Machakos County have launched Investigations into the death of a 60-year-old woman who died shortly after she was admitted at Kangundo Sub-County Hospital.
Elizabeth Mumbua was undergoing treatment at the hospital after taking poison.
Mumbua, who was the treasurer of a table banking group in the area, had fled her homestead after members ordered her to surrender Sh300,000 which they had raised throughout the year.
After the group reconciled its books, Mumbua promised to avail the money on Wednesday. However, on Wednesday morning, she left her home without disclosing her destination.
Three days later, family members found her handbag next to the cowshed. They mounted a search immediately, and her footprints led them to an abandoned house within the homestead where they found her lay unconscious. Beside her body, there were two bottles of acaricide.

It is suspected the deceased had squandered the money. The death has left members of the table banking group in shock.
