18 People Dead 10 Rescued after Bus They Were Ferrying in Plunged into River

In an incident that occurred today morning around 11 Am a school bus of St Joseph seminary Mwingi tried to cross a fully flooded river with over thirty people inside who were on their way to Mwingi town to attend a wedding. However the driver was not lucky as the floods overpowered the bus and it was swept away by the heavy waters.

Ten people managed to be rescued as other 18 did not make it as they drowned. The case has been confirmed by the Mwingi east sub-county commander Joseph Yakan.

Many people have been angered by this incident as they felt like the incident could have been avoided as the driver was warned by the residents who were at the scene before he forcefully proceeded to get into the river trying to cross the bridge.
