All Special Services Unit (SSU) troops, from corporal to inspector, must report at the IAU headquarters in the KCB Towers in Upper Hill, Nairobi County, unarmed on October 21, 2022.
Some police personnel have claimed that the IAU conducted extensive interrogations of them after the formation of the special squad in 2019 to investigate their possible complicity in the spate of extrajudicial executions.
But some said that the IAU had not investigated the unit's commander despite orders from on high.
The SSU officers claim that the former DCI boss George Kinoti has links to robberies and other forms of organised crime.
